Three-week road closure ahead for I-465 westbound lanes

Indianapolis, Indiana – In an announcement that will be of interest to those commuting on I-465 in the southern quadrant of Indianapolis, a sizable highway construction project is set to commence.

From 8 pm Friday onwards, all lanes heading west from I-65 in the southern area extending to I-70 on the southwest perimeter will be off-limits for approximately three weeks.

This undertaking is associated with the ongoing I-69 project, slated for completion in early 2025. This project will ultimately form a junction with I-465 in proximity to the current State Road 37.

A consequential effect of the interstate shutdown will be the closure of all exit ramps leading to the westbound I-465 from multiple routes including East Street, State Road 37, and Kentucky Avenue.

For optimal navigation during this period, officials recommend utilizing city streets as primary alternate routes for both eastward and westward travel.
