IMPD investigates early morning homicide on Indianapolis’ near east side
Indianapolis, Indiana – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) has launched an investigation into a tragic incident that occurred on Indianapolis’ near east side early on Thursday morning, where a man lost his life due to gunshot wounds.
The incident took place approximately at 4:15 on the morning of June 22, when officers were dispatched to North Dearborn Street, north of East Michigan Street. The response was prompted by a distress call reporting a shooting incident.
Upon their arrival, the officers discovered a man who had been shot, seated in the driver’s position of a vehicle. The car was found situated near an alley within an uninhabited lot, close to an empty residence.
Emergency medical personnel who were present at the location pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The investigating officers have yet to disclose details regarding any potential suspect or the possible motives behind this violent act.
IMPD Lieutenant Shane Foley made a request to local residents, asking for their assistance in examining doorbell and surveillance camera footage captured around the time of the incident. He emphasized the crucial role the public plays in aiding the resolution of homicide cases.
