Three suspects face felony charges after Indianapolis police recover firearms during pursuit linked to alleged retaliatory threats

Indianapolis, Indiana – Three people are facing felony charges after investigators with the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force (ICGTF) and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) stopped a vehicle connected to alleged retaliatory threats and recovered multiple firearms during the investigation.
According to authorities, investigators recently learned of retaliatory threats involving individuals known to carry firearms. In response, the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force worked alongside several IMPD units to quickly investigate the situation and prevent possible violence.
The operation led to a traffic stop attempt on July 7, 2026, in the 3200 block of North Capitol Avenue.
Pursuit ends with three arrests and firearms recovered
Police said the driver refused to stop when officers attempted the traffic stop, leading to a vehicle pursuit.
To safely end the chase, officers used a precision immobilization technique (PIT) maneuver, bringing the vehicle to a stop.
Even after the pursuit ended, authorities said the three people inside the vehicle got out and ran from officers on foot.
Law enforcement personnel from the IMPD K9 Unit, ICGTF detectives, and officers assigned to the IMPD Northwest District, North District Violence Reduction Unit, and Violent Crime Task Force quickly coordinated their response and successfully located and arrested all three suspects.
During a search of the vehicle, investigators recovered three firearms, including one equipped with a machine gun conversion device.
Authorities said all three suspects had previous firearms-related convictions. They were initially arrested on allegations involving firearms offenses as well as resisting law enforcement.
Police described the case as an example of proactive law enforcement efforts designed to stop violence before it occurs.
Officials said the cooperation between specialized investigative units and patrol officers helped remove illegally possessed firearms from the community while disrupting what investigators believed could have become a violent incident.
On July 8, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office formally filed felony firearms charges along with charges related to fleeing from IMPD officers against each of the three suspects.
Authorities emphasized that the arrests and criminal charges represent allegations only.
Under the law, all three defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court as the case moves through the judicial process.
