Authorities confirmed identity of body found in a pond

Fishers, Indiana – Authorities have confirmed that the body discovered in a Fishers retention pond on Thursday belongs to a man reported missing several days prior.

On Thursday morning, the Fishers Police Department and Fishers Fire Department were called to the scene of an unresponsive individual in a pond on Harborvale Chase near 141st Street and Promise Road. Upon arrival, crews retrieved the body of 35-year-old James T. Hughes, who had been reported missing on April 30, 2023.

Police have informed Hughes’ family of the tragic discovery. At present, authorities do not suspect foul play, and the coroner’s office is investigating the cause and manner of death.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Hughes’ death remains ongoing. Officials are requesting that residents of the Sedona Woods Neighborhood review any exterior camera footage displaying Hughes in the vicinity of Litchfield Place, Catalina Drive, Harborvale Chase, Dobbins Drive, Silverbell Lane, and Wynngate Lane.

The time frame of interest spans from 10:37 p.m. on Monday, April 24, 2023, when Hughes was last seen, through 2 a.m. on April 25, 2023. If anyone has relevant information, they are encouraged to contact Detective Sergeant Rodriguez at (317) 595-3346.
