Suspects in armed CVS store robbery taken into custody by Carmel Police

Carmel, Indiana – The Carmel Police Department has apprehended two individuals implicated in a robbery at a CVS store that took place early Sunday morning.

Officers received a robbery alert from the CVS store located at 1421 South Range Line Road at approximately 5:30 a.m. Subsequent reports revealed that two male individuals had entered the premises brandishing firearms. It was reported that they vaulted over the counter, seized an undisclosed number of pills, and made a swift exit.

As the investigation unfolded, Carmel officers were provided with a description of the alleged perpetrators. An officer, patrolling the vicinity, spotted a vehicle fitting the description and notified other units. The suspicious vehicle, occupied by two males, was tracked and subsequently halted for investigation in the vicinity of West 86th Street and I-465.

Upon halting the vehicle, the two occupants were placed under arrest. Evidence corroborating the CVS robbery was found in the vehicle, in plain sight of the officers.

The suspects have since been identified as Mikhal Davaughn Hamilton, 22, and David Jahmal Washington, 20, both residents of Indianapolis.

Hamilton is now facing charges including:

• Robbery of a pharmacy while armed with a deadly weapon
• Criminal confinement while armed with a deadly weapon
• Intimidation
• Pointing a firearm
• Battery
• Theft

Washington has been charged with:

• Robbery of a pharmacy while armed with a deadly weapon
• Criminal confinement while armed with a deadly weapon
• Theft

Investigators are relieved to report that the incident occurred without causing physical harm to any individual present at the time.
