Indiana State Police Department seeks to fill a vacancy for a regional dispatcher

Fort Wayne, Indiana – The Indiana State Police Department has announced that they are seeking applicants for the position of a Regional Dispatcher at their Fort Wayne Post – Regional Dispatch Center (RDC2), located at 5811 Ellison Road.

The purview of this center spans the geographical jurisdictions of two state police posts. It encompasses eleven counties covered by the Fort Wayne Post (Adams, Allen, Blackford, DeKalb, Jay, Huntington, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wells, and Whitley) as well as the seven counties under the Peru Post (Cass, Fulton, Grant, Howard, Miami, Tipton, and Wabash).

In the role of a Regional Dispatcher, key tasks include receiving and recording information, and subsequently dispatching this information efficiently to police personnel and other relevant services. This is accomplished through the use of various resources such as a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System, Records Management System (RMS), Automatic Vehicle Locator (AVL), Geographic Information System (GIS), and other tools available at the Regional Dispatch Center.

The prerequisites for this position include a high school diploma or a GED equivalent, along with the ability to sit in a confined area for extended durations. Although not mandatory, two years of experience in public safety communications is preferred.

The salary for this position commences at $47,320.00 annually, and may be revised based on the candidate’s education, experience, and training. The benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, retirement plans, and accrued time off.
